Vincent Lim from Team Maxxis surprised everyone with his newly acquired NOS'ed AE86 Trueno, where he fought his battles fiercely and consistently, earning him the win for the second round of the Star Drift Challenge 2009 series. The win also placed him on top of the championship point standings.

MMU Autoshow 2009 was a success again with drifting still being the highlight of the event. Despite the rain that came down during Tsuiso round, the event was still crowded with umbrellas. Tsuiso battle was being run as Best 24 format to present more tandem actions to the spectators. Sync Optima driver Ariff Johanis took the win when Tan Tat Wei of Team Bridgestone crashed into him on entry after two sudden death battle.

After a long absence from the Star Drift Challenge series, Team Toyo driver Lim Zee King has returned to take the crown at the inaugural round of the 2009 series. Defeating privateer Ivan Choo in the finals, Lim Zee King piloted his Nissan 180sx to victory, which has been taken by the Toyota Sprinter in all 4 rounds of the 2008 series.

The Final Round of the Star Drift Challenge 2008 Series has concluded at A’Famosa Resort, Melaka on the 4th January 2009. Tengku Djan from Team Bridgestone was crowned the series champion after defeating team mate Tan Tat Wei in the finals, which allow him to gain a 2-point advantage over the 16-point lead Tat Wei had after the previous round.

Over 30 drifters gathered at the Kompleks Sukan Negara Bukit Jalil carpark to drift for Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih, an orphanage based in Puchong. The 2-day drift session were aimed at raising funds for the orphanage and at the mean time providing some exposure to motorsports for the children. 50 orphans were present at the event to get thrill rides from the drifters.
